Excellent advice. I had a family member that became critically ill last year. When we got the call that she was in the in CCU (Cardiac Care Unit) and not expected to survive, I booked one-way UA tickets. I did not know how things would go. Either we would stay while she recovered, or stay to attend the funeral and then head back..

OP, I would definitely do one-way tickets. You don't have to deal with change fees, etc if you need to stay longer..
