BA Gold attained- but not without the help of FT
Hello, I just wanted to say that I have finally reached Gold, after reading and following the advice from the knowledgeable folks here on FT.
My final trip, a mileage run from BGI-MIA-LAX return on AA, gave me the opportunity to gain the final 340 TP required before the end of my membership year, Nov.8. This yielded 440 TP.
On return home, I monitored my account to see the change of status but was quite disappointed when I saw the TPs being re-set to zero and no change of status. I waited another day and still no change so, as I followed the advice that I have seen being given on FT, I called BA and enquired about the status.
I spent 20 minutes on the telephone trying to convince the CSE that I had infact accumulated over 1500 TP, actually I had 1600 after the trip. She told me quite a few tomes that she could only see 1200 and this would not allow me to reach Gold and I should write the Executive club to request an audit on my points. I tried to give her the dates of my flights througout the year but this made no difference and eventually the call was "disconnected??" or we lost contact.
Knowing full well that I had in fact done all that was required for the status change and bouyed by the fact that I had read about these scenarios here on FT, I did what I know I had to do - call BA again to speak to another agent - just as I would have been advised to do if I had posted on this forum.
I spoke to another agent who told me again that I had not qualified for Gold since I had to take 4 BA flights. I provided him the the dates of 6 BA fights and after a brief hold he came back and confirmed that I had in fact done the required 4 flights but I also needed to reach 1500 TP and this was not done during my year. I gave him the date of the flights that I took this year and told him that by my calculations, I had made it to 1600 points. Again, he put me on hold and after a few minutes, he came back and told me that he had checked and I had indeed qualified for the status change from Silver to Gold and he would be sending off a request for a change in status to my account.
This was acheived the following day and I can now see the change on my account so I am just awaiting the shiny new Gold card! Now to get some more information on the benefits of this change by doing some more reading. Thank you FT family!!
