Marriott has Roll-Over nights in their program. All nights beyond your current/highest status roll over to the following year. So a Plat with 150 nights this year keeps status through the next two years, even without another stay.
They added this last year as a promo and have extended it to this year. Hopefully they will make it a permanent benefit of the program.
