This happened to me today too. Security in SNA asked "Have you got any toner cartridges?" This is nearly as absurd as the 'shoes off' rule thanks to the shoe bomber.

Let us pray that no terrorist stuffs a fat leather belt with high impact explosives, because if they do, I'll give you 3 guesses how TSA will respond...

In fairness, TSA folks have made some very necessary improvements since 9/11 (I always felt it was bizarre that I could put my brick-sized cell phone in an unscreened bin, for example, but perhaps that was due to my heightened sense of security due to the life long threat of terrorism of a different brand in my birth country), but kneejerking to every single provocation just makes them a mockery of themselves IMHO.
