Crew on board did an amazing job. Kudos to the pilots and in flight crew. We made an extremely fast and steep descent.
Everything fell apart on the ground. Part I can understand bc of the small operations in Mem. But the woman there was yelling at passengers and was even b*tching about a man paralyzed from the waist down.
After an hour plus on the ground those continuing on only to Mke had no information. After a travel day of 8 plus hours with my first delay and then the emergency landing, and with no help from airtran in Memphis, I booked a ticket on delta that got me to Mke 8 hours late.
The whole reason I went was to see the bucks/hornets game, all but 10 minutes of which I missed.
I'm at Mke now heading back to Msy. What, if anything, should I ask for in compensation? My delta ticket? My expensive ticket to the game? Refund of airtran ticket?
While I'd expect in a perfect world you should be entitled to all of the above, I think a reasonable expectation would be at least the DL ticket, and perhaps also your northbound FL ticket. They demonstrably did not provide the service they promised you, and they left you in the lurch as far as getting the promised service. I'd put the basketball ticket on the table as a bargaining chip, but who knows what they'll give you for it. You knew/should have known when you booked the DL ticket that you'd miss most of the game anyway, so it seems they might have a leg to stand on in terms of denying that. I'd give them a call, ask for what you think you deserve, and see what they say. If they won't do what you think they should, I think you should get a lawyer involved, but I expect they'll do something close to the right thing. Good luck!
