Well glad that nobody was injured or killed ala the Aloha incident.

At this point, I'd say the 737-900ER is the closest Boeing replacement for a 757 if you have to go with something now. When the 787-8 comes out, that's a good choice. The economics should be pretty good. I'm thinking the next 737 generation will offer a single-aisle 757 replacement.
