Iīll be staying in BKK for one night in Dec. on my way to SYD.

As Iīve never been to BKK, just a few minor questions:

1) How much does a taxi from the airport to the hotel cost arriving after 11p.m.?
2) Would you recommend checking through my luggage (travelling Europe-BKK-SYD with a 10h layover in BKK) or should I rather put up with the hassle of collecting and re-checking my suitcase?
3) Has anyone stayed at the Swissotel Nai Lert Park and would like to comment on his/her experience?
4) Whatīs the easiest way to tell the taxi driver where to take me? Would a printout of the hotelīs website with the address in English be sufficient? (I donīt speak a single word of Thai)
