I'll read a trip report if it has any of the following redeeming characteristics:

-I want to learn about a particular product, in which case detail is VERY important (e.g. visually sampling DL J)

-It shows something new (e.g. BA's new 773 and WT/WTP)

-It has a unique story behind it (e.g. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trip-...countries.html)

-It is particularly epic (e.g. the one about 8 bottles of Dom in SQ F)

-It is written in a masterful way (Seat 2A's reports come to mind)

-Being funny/sarcastic is a plus

My bugbears:
-No photos
-Just photos
-Photos not embedded
-Not enough detail
