I've flown Vietnam Airways several times over the last 5 - 6 years and didn't have any problems or concerns.

The most recent flight was between Da Nang and SGN. The plane was fairly new and clean and the staff were professional. In some regards it was a better run flight than a recent trip between Bangkok and Hanoi on Air France.
