You may endup doing 2 SIN runs that would bring the miles for you. Almost all Y/B fares out of SIN are priced around $2k (RT). If you can get to SIN with a good cheap fare to SIN and start your trip from SIN-HKG-SFO-JFK and return in Y/B fare, you will get in excess of 22k BIS miles (the EQM would be 150% of that). The positioning flight to SIN could be even a an award tix (Y for 65k miles) in may be SQ/TG combo. You may travel out bound in a weekend and again return another weekend. Since the revenue tix is booked in Y/B the upgrade will be 12.5k miles eachway.
So out of pocket will be around $2k plus 90k miles.
