Couldn't agree more. I would 100 percent stay Silver if I wasn't sure my next year's flying would requalify me. I see lots of Silvers get upgraded; I was sitting next to one on my last flight. No, they don't get as many benefites as Gold, but why would they? Golds do twice the flying.
If I were even unsure, I would stay Silver. If you do the flying, you'll make Gold anyway and if you don't you have another year of Silver.
