CP - San Marcos Golf Resort, Chandler, AZ

This is a report from a stay I had here 8/22-8/23.

Hotel: The hotel is actually somewhat hard to find. It's located in Downtown Chandler and the Mapquest directions I had were wrong. Eventually I was able to find it, but it's hard to see from Arizona Ave and I realized that in all the times I'd driven by this hotel, I'd never noticed it as it's ill signed and hard to see. The hotel itself is huge with many buildings and a large convention center. The parking lot can be confusing and there aren't clear signs showing you which buildings house which rooms. Plus some rooms are a long walk from the parking lot.

Check In: I arrived and walked through the expansive lobby and had a very pleasant check in experience with the lone agent on duty. I arrived at 10 PM on a Sunday in the summer so the hotel was rather empty. The agent was kind of enough to explain all the amenities of the hotel and what my room would have to offer and to make sure the top floor was ok with me.

Room: After driving near where my room was and navigating the narrow hallways, I found my way up to the top floor where my room was. It was a large room with a king bed, work station, TV and fairly large bathroom with separate vanity. I had a small balcony (always appreciated) though my room was an interior courtyard room so my view wasn't very pleasant. Everything in the room worked well and it had a nice new feel to it.

Other: Wireless was free and worked well during my stay. My check-out experience was just as pleasant with a very nice agent. There are some good restaurants within very easy walking distance of the hotel (I recommend the Italian place just across the street which has great lunch specials) though it is far from the major freeways and a 25 mile drive from the airport.

I got this stay on a points break and enjoyed my stay, though I don't think I'd stay again. It's too far from most Phoenix attractions and as I don't play golf, I'd have no need to stay here.
