AMS from Heathrow (or indeed Gatwick) will be on a 'standard' short haul plane (ie 320, 321) and there are full BA lounge facilities if you are in business class or have status.
From the Hyatt I would be ambivalent about time on public transport, both are easy enough (City - Bond Street to Canning Town on the Jubilee Line, then DLR or Heathrow - tube to Paddington and the Heathrow Express). In a taxi, Heathrow would be easier.
totally agree. Although I would say time of day is a factor. Anything before 1600 and if cabbing it LHR is fine, if not LGW and LCY in that order. A 5 min cab to Victoria and train would make LGW as least a good an option as LCY (again depending on Park Lane/HPC/Grosvenor Place traffic) with the advantage of lounges, and slightly more comfy journey than Jubilee/DLR.
