You might also try flights out of SAT if you're in southwest Austin, but availability will probably be similar to what you see out of AUS.
That's not the issue. The issue is that the ANA tool works better out of major markets. Just because you get no results out of AUS doesn't mean there aren't any.
The strategy would be to search IAH-NRT then AUS-IAH separately, and piece it together. Or XXX-NRT and AUS-XXX and piece that together.
While I'm in SFO, I often search out of LAX, ORD, or JFK. I don't intend on starting there, I simply intend on putting something together with the limited search results that ANA provides.
