Collecting miles isn't new to me, attaining enough miles for redemption or acquiring status is new to me. In the past I flew frequently short distances, so I never was able to obtain enough miles before the expiration date (which comes to another point, why expire miles? Other than for $$$)

I just recently acquired almost 3,000 miles and I expect more miles to pour in from my last flight. I am booked to do some more flying next month, and the good thing is they are a mix of long and short distance so I have a decent amount of miles to look forward to especially if they are round trip.

I don't understand why miles have to expire, why not let person A accure their miles when they want and in 5-10 years if they make 30,000 miles they should be able to redeem it or person B who gets 30,000 miles in 3 months or 1 year whatever.

My other problem is that I signed up for miles a week ago, it says it expires in April, I thought my miles are good for a year? I am going to have just under 12,000 miles by the time Christmas is here, I don't want to lose those miles, too bad they can't be "banked"

I may be making a number of short trips but anything helps I guess... I have a few other trips in mind where I will get 1k miles round trip others less than 500 miles r/t.

So what do you all say?
