UA MR: Status change over Mississippi River - Return flight 1.5hrs later Q

I apologize - I know this has been answered before but could not find the correct search string to answer my question. Currently a 2P but doing a MR on Sat (BOS-SFO nonstop) and will hit 1P over the Mississippi River going west. Right now I’m waitlisted for both flights. My return flight is 1.5hrs after landing at SFO so is there a procedure to get bumped "higher" up the list? Will the system acknowledge status change that quickly?
