What tricks/push back are you using to slay the dragons?

My experience is that the LHR BA First Class lounge is only open to AA travelers who are EXP or who are traveling in First Class on a BA flight. At least that's the pushback I got from the Lounge Dragon.
Last week I arrived at LHR from MXP, traveling business class on a BA flight, with an onward connection in AA First to Chicago. The 1st Class Galleries Lounge Dragon refused me entrance because "I wasn't flying with them." I'm not EXP, and did not think to show her my PLT card.
Tried the Galleries business class lounge, which wasn't bad in terms of food, drinks, and service, although it was terribly crowded and noisy. Then moved to the AA Flagship lounge which was incredibly quiet and comfortable. Food and drinks here were distinctly sub-par however.
