When I learn of something like this it reinforces my view that UA upper management is clueless about its customers' wants.
Oprah is arguably "THE" mogul of our lifetime. To have her associated with UA is definitely a plus, because the lovers far, far, FAR outweigh the haters.
Slap Oprah on a plane and you're likely to attract the "filler" business of Ma and Pa Kettle (especially Ma). You know, the ones that go to Miami and Cancun for their yearly vacation. This frees up marketing's time to go reach out to the Y, B, and F fare biz travelers and other elites.
