I changed the dates yesterday to what we originally wanted...SEA to PEK all in one swoop on CX via HKG...got return from PEK to HKG with stop over and return to USA a few days later...Liaison got involved and said "cannot cross zones like this".
What AA recently said was we will allow you to fly as ticketed..."our mistake" but you cannot make changes...even though agent yesterday was willing and able to change the dates...and inventory was and is available.</font>
Try and get those dates the way you want first, then worry about this Zone violation claim second. You will have to talk to this "liason" and argue your position and find out what really are the rules here. On a side note, if you have 80,000 miles somewhere in your account, maybe you should "secretly" put on hold two Y seats HKG-PEK, just in case, and try and get this resolved before booking them. If you win your argument (I hope you do), you can cancel the second reservation (within a 14 day period). Also, call CX and ask them what their policy is on 110K Asia 2 awards, presenting AA's original point of view of Asia 1 crossing with Asia 2.
The AA award chart doesn't tell the true story as to why all the awards went up in price, however thank you for providing your trip itinerary.
