You can find out what CO thinks your status is by requesting an intinerary receipt, which showed this for Frequent Flyer #:
UA-xxxxxxxxxxx 1P / *G
I have time to wait this out and see if CO updates it automatically, as the flight is not for another 4 weeks.
So, here's the scoop. I re-requested my itinerary receipt at least a week after I made 1K and CO still showed me as a 1P. However, a few days later, I changed the reservation and the new itinerary receipt shows me as 1K. It's unknown whether CO picked it up automatically (but it took more than a week) or if the change triggered an update. Either way, at least it's good to know that there's some situations where you don't have to call and have your MP # re-entered.
