SPG Rep: Hi, this is Bob with SPG speaking. How may I help you?

GP Rep: Oh hi, this is Joe from Hyatt Gold Passport.

SPG Rep: Joe, didn't we just talk yesterday?

GP Rep: Yup, I think so.

SPG Rep: Well, I have got another one of your best customers who wants to defect to SPG. Before we hand him our Platinum status, could you please confirm that he's really a Diamond in good status? Ya know, none of those fast-trackers that keep trying to fool us. His GP # is 34328746324Z and he claims to have 78 nights with 34 stays

GP Rep: Yup, that would be Dave Smith, he's one of our best customers. Take good care of him, please.

SPG Rep: Sure thing. Talk to soon, Joe.

And on a related side note, rightfully so ^
One of the jobs of most hotel's staff every morning is to call the other hotels in their area and collect occupancy and average room rate information, and the hotels provide this information to each other. Given they're willing to share that type of information, I don't see the conversation above as being so far-fetched.
