Because I work at a job where getting out "on time" seems to be a difficult concept for the staff to understand. So I book myself the last possible flights of the day to give myself a cushion for their inefficiencies. If I'm able to escape earlier, I'd rather get to my destination earlier than hang around at JFK/LGA eating junk food in anticipation of my flight.
