This will be my first post on FT, so my apologies if there is a more appropriate place for this message!

I got price-happy and booked a L-class flight from LHR-JAN (via ATL) in December. I usually fly non-rev on American and have great luck with business class upgrades. Now spoiled...I can't imagine flying coach on an intercontinental flight.

I only have 31K SkyMiles (6K MQM, 5 Qual. Seg.). Is there any trick I can pull to be eligible for an upgrade, considering it is a deep discount ticket?
