I may just decide that this week, when heading to China, I won't even bother to bring along the MacBookAir. It does Pages and Keynote well enough, with the currently lacking-behind-point being Numbers. Alas, I am not a big spreadsheet user.....
I've btw. gotten used to the virtual keyboard to the point that I do type quite fast enough on that and can dispense of dragging along a physical keyboard. Neato!
I just got back from a 3 day trip to PVG where I tried to go all iPad. I sort of failed (I had an Asus netbook along for backup). The only place where I ran into problems was the editing of a manuscript to include track changes. Couldnt do that on the iPad. Everything else was done with either the iPad or phone (BB or iPhone). Actually got a huge amount of work done as well. One possibility to deal with the editing is to make a PDF of it using Logmein and put that in my Dropbox. Then edit on that with a stylus. I may try that this week.
Well, the first part, making a PDF using Logmein and putting it in Dropbox worked well. Next editing in iAnnotate. I have a 4 day trip to DC coming up this week. I potentially have a lot of editing to do. I will try it using PDFs with iAnnotate but plan on carrying a MB Air as backup in case the other method doesnt work. As I try things I suspect I will tend to consolidate on the iPad only for 1-2 day trips and a MB Air and iPad for longer. The things that may change that are a specific project where I know I need the Air on a short trip or knowing that it is very unlikely I will need it given a longer trip.
