In 2008, I was on a Delta RJ from MKE-CVG, with a short connection to CHO (back when CVG was more of an RJ hub than it is now). The plane had a mechanical and once the delay hit 30 minutes, I worried about missing my connection as there were limited options from CVG to central Virginia.

There was no mass deplaning, in hopes that the maintenance person would fix the issue shortly, but the flight attendant let me off and the helpful DL MKE gate agent rebooked me on a CO flight, MKE-CLE-RIC, leaving about half an hour later. I sprinted from C concourse outside security to Continental's gate on E concourse, and flew into RIC.

Once I arrived, I asked the Delta agent in RIC baggage to scan my bag tag, and she told me the bag was scanned on hand in CHO less than an hour before! Oh well...I guess I made much ado about nothing, as for the bag to be there it would have had to have made the original connection through CVG. I rented a car in Richmond and picked up the bag at the Charlottesville airport later that afternoon.

I don't miss my weekly/bi-weekly MKE-RIC commute of 2007/2008 at all. Too many RJs, connecting flights and other assorted hassles!
