LH has chosen to allocate all of their initial A380 deliveries to Asian routes (daily to NRT and 3x to Beijing in 2010), with JNB as the token other route -- snubbing JFK for example. An interesting strategy. QF seems to have trouble with Japan, China and HKG routes for profit, while LH seems to have earmarked them as their top priority. Makes me wonder whether QF has plans for HKG or not.
I'm not certain that LH regards JNB as a "token other route". AF are running their 380 down to JNB as well. Two Euro airlines targetting JNB must mean more than a token market.
