If this is so much of a concern for her, she should travel with extra string and could allow time to get on a stringing machine at the university to at least re-string one of her racquets before tryouts. If the university has any kind of program that is worthwhile, they will probably have numerous stringing machines around and may even have a student/person who does all the team's stringing that could help her out if she needed 2 racquets strung. In the future, travel on a flight where she can board early and get guaranteed overhead space (assuming her tennis bag will fit).
