SFO 14:50 - 8:00 (the next day) I'll be in SFO, near San Mateo till quite late at night. From 10pm onwards I can go anywhere.

Rest of the time I'm in Seattle and Vancouver ... I'm keen for any suggestions I always wanted a ruben sandwich ... even went to the NY deli at the Landmark Hotel in Hong Kong but it was closed
If you don't mind a taxi (probably $15 each way) you could go down to Rinaldi's on Main Street in El Segundo. Their sandwiches (incl. a Reuben) are excellent. They also have a branch on Sepulveda in Manhattan Beach (about the same cab fare but farther from LAX.) El Segundo (we used to call it "El Stinko" when I was growing up in MB due to the Standard Oil refinery in town) is a fascinating and rather cute little town quite hidden from the airport complex, despite being right next door. Not a bad place to sit in the sun between flights.

For Seattle, see my post above. For Vancouver, surprisingly thin pickings, but Kaplan's at 41st and Oak Street (the nexus of Jewish Vancouver, south of downtown) is very good if a bit pricey. No website, sadly. Pretty old fashioned place, with really good Montreal-style smoked meats and good whitefish/lox stuff. The wait staff has been known to be more like your mother than you'd like.

Meh. I just don't get it. YMMV.
