With one of the bands I work for for the last 10 years we have been carrying on guitars in soft gig bags on klm flights with no problem at all .
(though with a group of 9 of us who all are Plat Elites ...)
Even with the stupid 1 piece of hand luggage rule, guitars seem to be exempt from that.
