Instead of asking them if they are having trouble reading, I'd suggest using the "Am I free to go now?" question. Ask it, and then keep repeating it if they decide to play BDO. Or, just start reciting the Fifth Amendment to them.
Nobody can be compelled to answer questions from these government clowns, and they know that.
