My sister flew to POP in "O" and got credit... Basically, the terms states:

Flights in "E" class of service do not earn credit and flights to South America in "O" class of service do not earn credit...

So, you can fly anywhere in "O" and receive credit except for South America...

Just be sure to retain your BPs, because it is quite common for AA to not send over the info to AS for mileage credit...
