Given that the standard 2 sources of electrical power on most commercial aircraft is either 28V DC and/or 115v/400hz AC some form of conversion would be required (depending on A/C model).
Based on looking at the charger for the company laptop here, the input voltage can be between 100-240 VAC at 1.4A, but a frequency of 50-60 Hz. (output to laptop is 15.6VDC & 8A). As long as the frequency can get reduced to a level that most laptop chargers can handle it shouldn't be a problem supplying enough power for a reasonable number of laptops. Of course, the aircraft I deal with on a day-to-day basis do not have laptop power available, so I don't know what kind of connections are usually provided at the seat.
