Its a great way to get a cheap holiday. Go to the presentation, listen to them and then politely refuse. They do try to sell but it is not a hard sell. If you are looking for an excuse not to buy tell them you don't like visiting the same place every year. You prefer to visit exotic places where they dont have vacation clubs. They will then say you can stay at any Marriott hotel. Do the sums of total cost and tell them that for about that much per night you could simply book a hotel room at a Marriott hotel anyway (without paying the £50000 or so for a timeshare).

My wife and myself had three nights at Crowne Plaza. We picked the car at Malaga Airport and dropped it off in Marbella. I paid an extra £30 or so for zero excess.

MVCI gave us a voucher for 80 Euros for dinner at Crowne Plaza. Breakfast at the hotel was included (it would not have been had we chosen to stay at the Marriott property).

From Marbella we took a bus to Algeciras, ferry to Tangiers and train to Fez. Stayed there at a riad for three nights, then overnight bus to Tetouan. From there a short shared taxi to the Spanish enclave Ceuta. From Ceuta a helicopter to Malaga Airport. One night in Malaga and back to London.

The most enjoyable (and low cost) vacation I have had for some time.
