I think AC will not do this for several reasons:
-AC sees their tiered members as a liability more than a source of revenue. The Aerogold increases this liability even more when people with huge accounts get more liberal access to award bookings.
-the point of the AA comp is to encourage more travelling with them and increase revenue, which they will acheive in doing this. AC, on the other hand, would likely see only a minimal change in travel patterns if they were to do this, as a-there is little competition, b-many figure that Canadians have pretty much decided for the next little while who they want to fly with, and [/c]-the benefits of Elite and Prestige are not substantial enough to encourage people to choose AC over another carrier.
IMO as nice as it would be to have Elite for a bit longer, its only use to me has and would be as a lounge pass, and for operational upgrades. Elite would not encourage me to fly AC, unless the upgrade certificate scheme were to substantially change.
