You can write/email customer relations to request original routing credit. You can also talk with the AAngels about a "trip in vain" (JFK-PIT-JFK).

There aren't any guarantees but if the flight cancels due to a mechanical, then you have a good case for asking for ORC + Bonus miles.

Alternatively ask to be put on DL6071 tonight. It leaves at 8:35 PM. Or tomorrow, B6 flight 1051 leaves at 8:10 AM tomorrow and has a fair amount of availability.
