I would like to book a room and use 3000 points to upgrade to the Regency Club. When I call the goldpassport department to request the upgrade, they say I must book a "rack rate" room at $414.00 a night, then I can use my 3000 points. However, the Hyatt website rate for an Ocean View Regency Club is only $366.75.

Why is it cheaper to not use my points?

My dates are 12/9-12/10.
