All I can say is:

1. The US has its fair share of taxing as well. And all our arrival taxes and fees are linked to inflation so they increase pretty much every year. And why do infants with no luggage allowance have to pay a customs inspection fee in the US??

2. I know of only one other person besides myself who has taken the time to contact their federal representatives to complain about the taxes and fees. They will continue to increase when people just pay up and act like they really don't care. I don't know how it works in the UK, but contact information for US Senators and Representatives is readily available. Very rare that people contact them though.
