I O Cards already been handed out
The IO cards have already been delivered. Somebody from EK shows up at your office unannounced with your package. Inside there is your kit. A thick, heavy dark red at grey/brown membership card with matching luggage tags. A Mont Blanc wallet and a personally signed letter from Tim Clark welcoming you to the club.
Benefits include a guarunteed business class seat on any EK flight regardless of how short notice you need the seat or how overbooked the flight is. Limo service to an from the airport. A limo service to and from the airport. Access to the first class lounges regardless of your ticket. The benefits are endless. There is also a private number on the back of the card which has a caller Id so the will answer the phone with "good morning Mr..."
The chap from EK did not know the exact requirements to join this club. Members are chosen by skywards based on a lot more than just how many miles you have flown. Hence the "invitation only"
The person I know who was given membership got his card 2 weeks ago. And to give you an idea, he has flown 1.2 million skywards miles, of which 250,000 + tier miles were in the past 12 months in F and J only. The EK chap seems to think this 250,000 number is one of the criteria.
As far as EK staff are concerned, very little is known about I O apart from they are they highest grade of high value customer. Again, I think the staff don't know the qualification requirements because they are not set in stone. You are chosen by skywards. A bit like 'up In the air!'
