You are both referring to the automatic hold, which will not override advance purchase restrictions. But I have never had an occasion (and neither have many of my friends here) where I was not able to get the hold extended to the next day by calling the EXP Desk or even Web Services. I know and I have. But I got the impression that the OP was talking about the automatic hold and that is different.
