I have used gift cards at all Marriott brands and sometimes I have used 3 or 4 at a time when, for example, there have been small balances on the cards and I wanted to use them up.
One thing to be aware of is that, because they are always (as far as I know) in US$, gift cards are best used in the US. Otherwise, they seem to suffer from sometimes unfavourable exchange rates.
