Since I wasn't really using those TD points that had piled up over the years it worked out well. I got a really good head start towards Silver with the TP's and by cashing in 20K SPG points I was able to MFU from WT+ to CW on the next flight to complete the 600 TP requirement. Personally I don't think the OP made a mistake if they booked a ticket that fell into a TP earning bucket. TD Reward miles aren't like AirMiles as they convert to a cash credit when purchasing a revenue ticket using the TD Travel Visa. I still have the card but I never use it and I agree the RBC Avion would be a better choice if the OP is staying with BAEC.
in fact, OP could have booked directly with BA.com and MFU'd the same using any miles OP may have had in the BA kitty....so again, OP, do not dispair, the redemption is at the exact value the card promotes. (I see you note that...)
so even in the lowest fare bucket O - this is likely OP's booking class if they booked recently...it would get OP around 14K in miles and 120TP...but most importantly being in NA, 4 segments...i have over 600 TP's right now and my year just rolled over on Oct. 8 but sadly, no segments on BA and not likely to have any and to be honest, it is not worth paying to get Sliver - although the 100% miles bonus is causing me to do the math on the same....and perhaps thinking about flying to NYC the very very long way...
