It would have been a revenue bucket. When I first switched back to BAEC and wanted to get status quickly I used all my TD points which I believed ended up being about $1700 towards a convoluted I class BA ticket that was in the $4200 range so I ended up paying the extra $2500 out of my own pocket. Since I wasn't really using those TD points that had piled up over the years it worked out well. I got a really good head start towards Silver with the TP's and by cashing in 20K SPG points I was able to MFU from WT+ to CW on the next flight to complete the 600 TP requirement. Personally I don't think the OP made a mistake if they booked a ticket that fell into a TP earning bucket. TD Reward miles aren't like AirMiles as they convert to a cash credit when purchasing a revenue ticket using the TD Travel Visa. I still have the card but I never use it and I agree the RBC Avion would be a better choice if the OP is staying with BAEC.
