For many of us EK is not an option because I for one would find it highly inconvenient to have to switch planes in Dubai. So the same reasoning applies to the other carriers in the region like Qatar.

As for EK, if you can go in F for the same price as SQ C, then give it a shot. But at the same time AMS is one of few routes where you get the old SQ seats (which although similar are still better than current LH C on say the 744). But if you were to fly in new SQ C on the 77W then keep in mind that on SQ you get 4 seats across in a row, whereas on EK on the same metal they squeeze in... 7.
