What a ridiculous process! I am trying to upgrade a Club World ticket to First with my CX miles.
MPC made the upgrade reservation and then advised me I needed to call BA immediately to cancel the existent CW reservation. I called BA and they told me this was completely impossible, they had never heard of what I was asking for, that if I canceled the reservation the ticket would be canceled. I called MPC back to clarify and they told me the same thing again -- that BA should be able to cancel the reservation but leave the ticket open. I called BA back and again they insisted it was impossible and that MPC would have to contact the BA oneworld desk to sort it out.
I pressed and pressed and after about ten minutes, they finally admitted that they could probably cancel the segments but leave the ticket open.
I am now stuck in some kind of terrible limbo where I don't really know what is going on. Neither my old nor new BA booking references give me anything at BA.com or checkmytrip.com.
I am dreading that the BA agent has just done something to get rid of me and canceled my ticket or somesuch.
Stupid and stress inducing.
