Is 55 minutes really enough?
Hi everybody
(apologies if this is the wrong place for this sort of question - hopefully someone will have some knowledge...I've had a search and couldn’t quite get a definitive answer...)
I have a flight from BWI-EWR with continental (express) on Dec 16th, and an onward connection to BHX via continental mainline. The BWI-EWR flight is continental express (ExpressJet airlines), so I believe will arrive at Terminal A. My onward connection is to BHX, and will depart Terminal C. The connection is scheduled to depart 55 minutes after my CO Express flight arrives at terminal A.
So my question is this: is 55 minutes really realistic to get from Term A to my gate at term C? CO seems to think so (at least their website does - which is where I made the booking all in one go). To quote their website:
"When you make your reservation online, continental.com selects flights with connection times that ensure you have enough time to make your connecting flight."
However, from what I've read elsewhere, I'm less confident now! Is 55 minutes really possible (all things being relatively equal, acts of god not withstanding etc) and I'm over worrying, or is this a real cause for concern? I have transited airside from term A to C before on the inter terminal airside bus, but on that occasion I had hours and hours for my connection, and everything went without a hitch. Obviously if the connection is missed, it's up to CO to get me to the UK (either BHX or LHR would do), but I'm concerned at that time of year free seats will be in short supply, even with all the best will in the world...
Also if anyone knows, if it is tight, and I either make it/don’t make it, what chance do my bags have (which will have been checked through from BWI to BHX)?
Any thoughts gratefully received!
Cheers
