Sorry to bump the thread, but I've been doing some flight shopping tonight and this bears repeating. The AF PV>J deal is way better than I'd expected.

Example, chosen simply because it's a trip I want to book to go hang out at Weinachtsmarkt this year in Germany:

SEA-MUC, Dec 10-Dec 13
Delta (coach, U fare): $854
Air France (coach): $925
Air France (premium voyageur, A fare): $2089
Delta (coach, M fare): $3233.
Delta (business, I fare): $6399

Over the Delta M fare, the Air France A fare is a total no brainer - better product, better routing (SEA-CDG-MUC on a A330 instead of SEA-ATL-MUC on a non-flat 764), and 2/3 of the price! This might actually make the SWUs viable instruments.

One caveat: you'll have to use AirFrance.com because the Delta.com premium economy option doesn't appear to do anything for me... I just get U fares returned instead.

So the real question is - what class should I be looking for availability in for an SWU to clear on Air France from A to business?

It is still incredibly bizarre to me that Delta has created a top tier upgrade instrument that will drive my business away from them onto their alliance partner, though...
