wow the taxes are high!
I did an arbitrary booking using ANA award points:

210,000 miles for biz tickets, Sept. 2011
ORD-ICN-PEK on OZ
HGH-ICN-ORD on OZ

$840.80 in taxes/fees for 2 tickets. Ouch! I've never paid more than $125 each using US carriers. And that doesn't include my flights from MCI to ORD and the 3 domestic China flights I hope to get as part of my award travel.

Any way to avoid these? If I can get flights on UA would the taxes be lower?
