I notice people mentioning the $10 self park fee...did you also get charged a resort fee?...if so isnt that supposed to include parking? I am visiting the Big island for the first time this spring and after reading the reviews of this place on tripadvisor, I decided to look elsewhere. Everyone mentions the rooms are run down, and have outdated tvs. While yes its Hawaii, and you dont spend a lot of time during the day in your room. I cant see the few towns nearby having any nightlife at all, so you will be spending a good amount of time in your room. Unless you can sit mezmerized by manta rays while drinking $7 maitais at the manta ray bar for hours on end, you have little choice. Anyone have any info on stuff to do or see at night there, besides the manta rays? What exactly was renovated?
