FRA - YYZ (AMS-FRA-YYZ but this is FRA-YYZ only)

Flight/Origin-Destination: - AC877 FRA-YYZ
Date: Oct 21, 2010
Cabin: Y
Status: E

Pre departure
Was check in quick and efficient? Yes (with Lufthansa agent in AMS)
Did you use priority security? N/A
Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes
If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? Issues with the GAs

Onboard - Y cabin:
Were the crew professional & well groomed? Yes
If there was a delay, were you provided with timely updates? Several delays but well informed
Was the IFE activated on the ground? NA
Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service/Onboard cafe to begin? I think 35-40 minutes but it wasn't unreasonable.
How was the quality of the meal/Onboard cafe? It's Y class - it was rubber.
Did the cabin crew offer water regularly throughout the flight? Yes

Post departure
If you have checked baggage, did it arrive within reasonable period of time? Half an hour from exiting the plane to the first bags coming off the plane. Is that reasonable for YYZ? T1 wasn't busy so I'm not sure ... I was irritated by the time it took, but I almost never check a bag and I had been up for 24 hours, so had less tolerance for anything.

Overall experience/any other comments
In other cities I have been through, the GAs start to determine UGs as soon as check-in closes. This is my third time through FRA where the GAs have taken my boarding pass, held it until everyone has boarded and THEN determined UGs. Fine if you are successful, but if you're not, then you have missed priority boarding and there is no space for your carry-on. Three of us were affected on this flight and ended up being boarded almost last with our original Y boarding cards. I had a premium Y class seat on a 763 (and there are so many SEs on FRA-YYZ that us lowly Es don't really stand a chance anyway), so the annoyance wasn't about not getting the UG, it was that everyone had boarded by the time the decision was made. This seems to be relatively unique to FRA (and see new thread about "can the GA actually NOT give me her name".
