The VPN masked that I was overseas. While the movie started out ok, it invariably bogged down due to slow internet speed
I use a VPN to connect to my company's servers, physically located in Los Angeles. There are various data loading routines that I use all the time. I'm pretty used to them.

I know that these routines are slower when I am connecting to the VPN from far away (ie Europe) rather than from home (Los Angeles). Our network admin has confirmed that the slowness is due to the increased geographical distance between my computer and the server.
